Aim

Support us financially so we can continue to speak up for grace, compassion and justice in the media and in government.

Sanctuary Foundation exists to speak up for truth, grace and compassion in government, media and schools. We seek workable, compassionate solutions to meet the needs of displaced people.

Over the past few years, we have had the privilege of playing a quiet but significant role in some of the UK’s most important humanitarian responses:

  • helping shape the Homes for Ukraine Scheme, which enabled over 200,000 Ukrainians—mostly women and children—to find safety here;
  • supporting Afghan families displaced by war;
  • enabling the medical evacuation of children from Gaza;
  • and advocating for families affected by humanitarian crises globally.

We have been trusted to work constructively with both Conservative and Labour governments, offering practical, non-partisan solutions at moments when politics alone was not enough.

Yet despite this impact, we now face a hard reality.

Like many small charities, we are under severe financial pressure. Without new support, Sanctuary Foundation will be forced to wind down its work within the next few months.

That would mean losing a proven, credible  voice in government, the media, and public life—at precisely the moment it is most needed.

What gives me hope is what we’ve already been able to achieve a lot with very little.
With just three part-time staff, last year alone we:

  • Reached over 9 million people through national broadcast media (BBC Radio 4 and Radio 2 ) and digital platforms ( LinkedIn, Instagram and X), shaping public conversations on refugees, vulnerable children, and social cohesion with credibility, compassion, and practical insight.
  • advised the Home Office, Foreign Office, 10 Downing Street and  Department of Health and Department of Education on refugee response.
  • ensured every child arriving from Gaza was met with dignity and care;
  • reached over 750,000 schoolchildren through our Great Big Live Assembly—one of the largest platforms for Christian witness to young people in Britain;
  • partnered with the British Library on a national art and poetry competition;
  • contributed regularly to national conversations across the BBC and UK press.

As a new year begins, many people are reassessing their giving. May I ask you to consider becoming a regular donor to Sanctuary Foundation?

Your support would help ensure that:

- vulnerable people are not reduced to headlines or talking points;

- governments hear solutions rooted in compassion and realism;

- there is voice in public life remains hopeful, credible, and constructive.

 Your gifts well help us continue our work.
