New stretch target: +£60,000 to power up the national rollout We’re adding a £60,000...
To bring the National Emergency Briefing, on to the people.
Help bring the climate and nature emergency briefing to the whole country
In November 2025, leading experts gathered in Westminster to brief MPs and national leaders on the climate and nature crisis: what it means for our food, health, security and economy, and what we can do about it.
That briefing has now become The People’s Emergency Briefing, presented by Chris Packham. The film is being screened in communities and workplaces across the UK, bringing people together to hear the evidence and discuss how to respond.
Now we need your help to reach far more people, bring more MPs into the conversation and build support for a televised national emergency briefing.
Everyone deserves to understand the risks we face, the choices available and the enormous benefits of acting together.
What we have achieved
With the support of donors, volunteers, experts and local organisers, we have taken the briefing beyond Westminster and into village halls, cinemas, churches, community centres and workplaces.
The film is complete and available free of charge for community screenings. Hosts receive guidance and resources to help them organise events, invite their MP and lead a constructive discussion.
Our petition calling for a government-led emergency briefing has passed 100,000 signatures. MPs from across the political spectrum are supporting the call.
This gives us a strong foundation. Your support will help us build on it.
Why this matters
The climate and nature crisis affects the things we all depend on: a secure home, affordable food, good health, reliable infrastructure and a functioning economy.
Yet public understanding remains far behind the evidence. The connections between these threats are rarely explained clearly, while misinformation obscures both the risks and the solutions.
We believe people deserve an honest account of the situation, alongside a credible explanation of how action can protect lives, improve wellbeing and create a more secure future.
Shared understanding makes a different kind of conversation possible: one in which communities and decision-makers can face the evidence together and consider the response it demands.
What comes next
We want to take the briefing into every constituency and reach people who would not normally attend an environmental event.
That means expanding community screenings, working with businesses and councils, developing our student programme, and helping trusted local organisations bring new audiences into the conversation.
We want every MP to have the opportunity to see the evidence alongside their constituents, and to hear their concerns and ideas directly.
And we are working towards a live televised emergency briefing, introduced by the Prime Minister and delivered by independent experts, so that every household can hear the evidence and understand what an effective national response would involve.
The film and its screenings are helping build the public understanding and support needed to make that happen.
What your donation will fund
Making the film was a major undertaking. Bringing it to audiences across the country requires sustained work.
Your donation will help fund:
Volunteers make an enormous contribution. A properly supported core team enables that generosity to translate into many more screenings and much wider reach.
Who we are
We are the team behind the National Emergency Briefing: a non-partisan group of science communicators, creatives and organisers working with some of the UK’s most respected experts.
We bring together expertise on climate, nature, health, food, energy, national security and the economy to provide a clear, joined-up account of the challenges we face and the responses available.
Our purpose is to help create the public understanding and political will for emergency action at the scale and speed required.
Our founders’ commitment
Cofounders Simon Oldridge and Nick Oldridge contributed more than £200,000 to get the project off the ground. They worked without pay throughout 2025 and will continue to do so.
Many others have contributed their expertise and time free of charge or at substantially reduced rates.
Your donation builds on that commitment and helps sustain the team and programme needed to take the briefing further.
Help us reach the next community, the next workplace and the next MP
A screening creates an opportunity for people to hear the evidence, ask questions and decide what they can do together.
With your support, we can create those opportunities across the country, while pressing for the national briefing the public deserves.
Please donate to help bring the briefing to the whole country, and perhaps even the whole world.
