Launching Get SAFE to help victims of financial exploitation rebuild lives, pursue justice, and access free recovery support.
My name is Steve Conley. I founded Get SAFE — Support After Financial Exploitation — because I’ve seen first-hand that when financial systems fail people, the damage goes far beyond money.
Before this work, I spent many years inside global financial institutions. I saw how complex systems, poor governance, and misplaced incentives can quietly devastate lives. I also saw what happens after the harm — when ordinary people try to seek answers or justice and are ignored, blamed, or worn down until they give up.
Get SAFE exists so that doesn’t happen anymore.
Get SAFE is a citizen-led recovery and justice network for people affected by corporate financial exploitation. We support individuals not only to pursue redress, but to rebuild confidence, purpose, and agency — at their own pace, with dignity.
Our work is built around five connected programmes:
Rebuild & Thrive
Practical life-planning and wellbeing support to help people stabilise, recover emotionally, and rediscover direction after financial trauma.
Justice & Recovery (The Goliathon)
AI-assisted training that turns overwhelm into clarity — helping people organise evidence, understand what happened to them, and build credible, professional case files.
The Witnessing Service
A safe space where testimonies are preserved with care, ensuring lived experiences are acknowledged and never erased or dismissed.
The Fellowship
A supportive community of peers, volunteers, and advocates — offering connection, reassurance, and hope when isolation feels overwhelming.
Citizen Investigator Tools
Free digital templates, guidance notes, and complaint systems that help people take informed, confident steps toward accountability.
Why we’re raising funds
Get SAFE is moving to an always-on, community-supported model so help is there when people need it — not just during campaigns.
We are raising £20,000 to:
• Register Get SAFE as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO)
• Build and maintain our website, CRM, and secure resource systems
• Fund the first year of free recovery services, training, and fellowship support
Every £50 raised provides a bursary for one person to access tools, materials, and guided support.
That’s 400 people in year one — 400 lives supported to move from shock and powerlessness toward clarity, confidence, and hope.
This is not only about justice.
It’s about healing.
And recognising that recovery and justice are two halves of the same truth.
