Southmoor Academy - African Adventures

Aim

Help Southmoor Academy pupils travel to Kenya in 2027 to volunteer in local schools, support communities and gain life-changing experiences.

Help Sunderland's Young People Make a Difference in Kenya! 🌍

Young people from Southmoor Academy are preparing for an incredible opportunity to make a difference thousands of miles from home.

In partnership with the Foundation of Light and African Adventures, pupils are fundraising to take part in a volunteering programme in Kenya in 2027, supporting local schools and communities while gaining valuable life experiences.

Making a Difference in Kenya

The group will travel to Nakuru, Kenya, where African Adventures works alongside local schools to improve educational opportunities for children.

Of the 17 partner schools in Nakuru, 12 receive no government funding, making the support of volunteers incredibly valuable.

During their visit, pupils will have the opportunity to get involved in a range of activities, including supporting classroom learning, delivering sports activities and helping with practical projects to improve school facilities.

Their efforts will contribute to the ongoing work of African Adventures, helping to create better learning environments and opportunities for children in Kenya.

An Experience That Goes Beyond the Classroom

This project isn't just about the difference pupils can make in Kenya. It's also about the impact the experience can have on them.

For many of these young people, it will be a chance to step outside their comfort zones, experience a different culture and develop skills that will stay with them long after they return home.

From building confidence and independence to developing teamwork and leadership skills, the programme offers an opportunity for personal growth that goes far beyond a traditional school trip.

How You Can Help ❤️

To make this opportunity possible, pupils are taking on the challenge of fundraising towards the cost of their trip.

We're calling on the generosity of our community to help them reach their target and take part in this unforgettable experience.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help bring them one step closer to Kenya.

Please donate what you can and help give these young people the chance to make a difference.

Thank you for your support! ❤️
