Summer in Lee’s People’s Air Display

Aim

As part of Summer of Lee, the ‘People’s Air Display’ on Saturday 22nd August will provide an aerobatic spectacle over the Solent.

Summer in Lee reaches a key point in 2026.

Summer in Lee crowdfunding is now open as we head into the 10th anniversary of Summer in Lee, our annual fundraiser for Children with Cancer UK.

In 2026, you will see something new. On the Saturday, we are planning a live air display over the Solent as part of the event - it will be known as the People’s Air Display.

Why we’re asking for your support

This People’s Air Display adds something special to the day, but it also brings real costs that sit outside the normal event budget.

To deliver it properly, we must cover:

• Civil Aviation Authority permissions
• Controlled use of airspace
• Flying Display Director and safety management
• Insurance cover
• Aircraft display and operating costs

This is a fully regulated activity. It has to be planned and delivered to the right standard.

What your support does

Your contribution goes directly towards making the air display happen.

• It helps keep Summer in Lee free for everyone to attend
• It protects the money raised for Children with Cancer UK
• It allows the display to be delivered safely and professionally
• It gives you a direct role in bringing it to life

What you’ll see

The planned display programme is expected to include:

• Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Dakota
• Spitfire
• Jubilee Pitts
• Wingwalkers
• Gazelles
• Seafire

All delivered by an experienced air display team working alongside Montserrat Events.

This is about marking 10 years of Summer in Lee properly.

• More visitors means more support for the charity
