PZN Youth ( formally Kesoberi CIC Pz and Newlyn Youth Project ) has been running since Dec 2022. We provide open access and targeted youth club nights and trips for young people aged 11-18 in the Penzance area. We are 100% grant funded and have a team of brilliant, experienced staff working at the project. Everything we provide for the young people is free - We never charge anyone for entry, activities, food or trips.
After a really successful first year where we hired rooms in other buildings and provided for hundreds of young people, we had the opportunity to take on a building of our own in Dec 2023.
It has been amazing to have our own space where we can feel more settled and have comfy sofas, a pool table and other equipment, but the space is quite small and we are limited to around 15 young people in the building. We would love to have the chance to spread out a bit and be able to open up to more young people.
Alongside the building on Alverton Street and behind the town council noticeboard (and as part of our lease), is an outside area which is currently not used and a bit neglected. We hope to make use of this area to double our usable youth club space.
We would like to install double doors out of the building, fencing and a shed for equipment. This will require planning permission from Cornwall Council.
This crowdfunder is to raise funds to put in the planning application and to do the works required to enable us to make use of the garden space.
Once we have access to the space, the possibilities for projects are endless and would include planting, growing, outdoor cooking, art installations, woodwork, bike maintenance and small scale sports /exercise.
