Aim

We want to give nature a helping hand in our park by planting native flowers for the bees, providing bird and bat boxes and bug hotels.

We will be improving the environment in our park by designating an area for a natural meadow and reintroducing native plants - primroses, snowdrops, bluebells, heather and lavenders. These plants are invaluable to our bees, butterflies and insects that are in decline. We will be using planters along the main path for sensory plants (creating scent, sound and touch stimulation) for those that cannot leave the path and access the grass areas easily. We are working with local families and children's groups to build bug houses an activity that has proved to be very popular and engaging. We will be installing a range of bird and bat boxes, there is huge potential for nature in our park (a comprehensive survey was carried out in 2012) it just needs a helping hand from the community.
