Shutting up shop

As the nation falls into lockdown and many businesses are shutting up shop, we weep for what we may lose as we all make this sacrifice to curb the spread of Covid-19.  Before the announcement was made on Friday 20th March to close all pubs, bars & restaurants, we had already closed the doors at Flipside to keep our staff and families safe in this unprecedented time.  Especially as the PapaFlip himself had already been knocked sideways and infected with the coronavirus. 

Even though it was an obvious decision to make, it was a very difficult one.  We are a small independent business which is ruled by our cash flow.  A bad couple of weeks can seriously put our livelihoods at risk and this could possibly destroy us.  Destroy everything that we've worked so hard to build since we took on the venue 12 years ago and destroy us mentally too.  With all the uncertainty around at the moment we are unable to rely on the government's grants & the banks.

We are a family

We are a small team with an amazing and loving clientele.  That is our family and that is what defines us.  Most of the staff that have worked with us over the years, have stayed with us for years and remain close friends to this day.  Most of the customers that have walked through our doors, have continued to do so over the years.  All of them are our friends, our family.  The venue, be it Tequila Max, Papaji's or Flipside, has created so many relationships.  Ones that have gone on to marriages and babies.  We are a family and we are at risk.  But together we are strong. 

We will rise from this 

We have ridden out the banking crises of 2008/09 with the financial instability that followed through to Brexshit.  We will ride this one out too.  But to do so, we need your help.
