“You really think someone’s coming to save us don’t you?”

In a distant past, a princess and a peasant escape their besieged city. In the safety of a cave, the unlikely pair confront a precarious future and the unravelling of social conventions. As hierarchy is called into question and their most intimate secrets come to the surface, the call of a society beyond the city’s confines seems irresistible. But will they make it in one piece?

Written by actor and playwright Michael Hajiantonis, 'Put Out His Eyes' is a modern fairytale about class, crisis, and power. Hajiantonis’ play seeks to interrogate the social conventions which shape our world and which many of us accept without question. 'Put Out His Eyes' is Michael Hajiantonis’ second play, following his debut success with 'Going Slightly Mad', based on his experiences with psychosis, bipolar and sectioning, which culminated in an acclaimed run at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2019.

Playing at the iconic Lion & Unicorn Theatre in Kentish Town, 'Put Out His Eyes' stars Hannah Omisore and Daniel Morris and is directed by Michael Zwiauer, whose previous work includes 'The Kindness of Strangers' at VAULT Festival, 'Nines' at the Canal Cafe Theatre, and a sell-out run of 'This Isn’t Working' at the Edinburgh Fringe 2022.

The show will run for five nights from 28 January to 1 February 2025.
