Aim

We want to revitalise our club, re-inspire our members, enthuse our coaches and rekindle the dedication of our invaluable volunteers

Hello there

Tullylish Amateur Boxing Club was established in October 2019 and is based in “The Den” in Laurencetown, just outside Banbridge. Tullylish is well renowned for producing an array of excellent amateur Boxers.

Background

We have a team of ever willing volunteers and coaches supporting the club as well as guiding, advising and training our current generation of young boxers. Whilst sport, and in particular, the discipline of boxing is at the centre of all we do. We also place a strong emphasis on the importance of personal discipline, working as a team, togetherness, respect for your opponent and crucially, the importance of mental and physical well-being and integrity.

What we do

Tullylish ABC is a small club, but with huge ambitions. We recognise not only is the club a fantastic place to develop a boxer’s ring-craft, but also general mental and physical fitness. It is not only our role to develop our members’ boxing skills, but to help them in their journey into adulthood and for each to find their unique

Building on our successes

Based in rural county Down, the founding vision of the club was to engage with young people from remote areas and reduce social isolation amongst potential members. Having been formed just a short time before the Covid Pandemic, it is a testament to the skills of our boxers, coaches and volunteer trainers that the Club has already enjoyed a number of notable successes, including three gold medals in the Mid -Ulster Championships, followed by 2 gold and 1 Silver in the Ulster Finals in March 2020. Recently, the club’s boxers competed in the Louth Championships, securing 3 gold and 3 silver medals.

Post Lockdown Challenges

However, as we have emerged from lockdown, we have noticed a certain lethargy amongst some of our members. Not all members have come back and we are struggling to bring in new members, and especially young girls. Prior to Covid, we enjoyed a steady growth in our member numbers.

What we want to do

We remain committed to our local community is evidenced in our collaboration with local Gaelic & Soccer clubs to help their members develop their fitness and discipline as they strive for excellence in their chosen Sport. We continue to offer “Boxercise” classes to local adults. As the club re-establishes itself and continues to grow and develop, we will continue our efforts to remain a vital and essential resource for all our community – ensuring we are ‘open to all’.

To stimulate growth in member numbers, re-energise and re-invigorate current or lapsed members and encourage new and previous volunteers to return, we are seeking your support to help us.

We want to expand our programmes for junior and senior members, attract more young girls and females to the sport of boxing and showcase the facilities of our club.

What you will be helping to support

To grow our club, continue to build our support of and for the local community and build on our current partnerships with other sports organisations, we want to ‘overhaul’ our complete offering to include:

The purchase of new training equipment

Development of a mental wellbeing initiative

Development of a sport and exercise healthy eating programme

Establishment of specific coaching and training regimes to develop schedules dedicated to each of our boxers, based on individual needs

What impact will this make?

The main beneficiaries will be the young boys & girls who train and compete in and for our club. We will deliver an enhanced overall experience for them and put the club in a position to offer a holistic health, fitness and well-being programme.

We will also be in a better position for other local groups and clubs to use our facilities and enjoy the benefits of up to date equipment.

1644489907_unnamed-1.jpgYour support can help us reach our goal

Our goal is to raise £10,000 through this project. If we can raise £5,000 from our own fundraising efforts, we have the opportunity to apply for ‘matched’ funding from Sport NI’s Project Reboot.

No amount is too small and every single penny raised will be invested for the benefit of Tullylish Boxers and the wider, local community.
