Further building refurbishments and new training equipment for our junior teams and ...
The aim of our project is to refurbish our clubhouse and make it a more welcoming environment for our members and community users
Peterborough Town CC is a large, friendly, diverse and successful club running 5 senior weekend teams and junior teams from age 9 to 19 and is run and managed by volunteers. We are proud to be at the heart of our local community representing the diverse backgrounds of Peterborough and it is the "community feel" that we believe makes our club so special to our members and visitors.
The cricket club is ECB Clubmark accredited, providing a sustainable, safe, family friendly welcoming club environment and is part of the City of Peterborough Sports Club, which includes Hockey, Squash, Bowls and Tennis.
We run 10 junior teams including a girls team and 5 senior adult teams. We pride ourselves on having a large and successful junior section where we run the ECB flagship All Stars and Dynamos cricket programmes. Many of our juniors over the years have transitioned to our senior teams a key objective to ensure the long term sustainability of our club.

We are a community cricket club who take great pride in welcoming and having senior and junior members, their families and visitors from all ethnic backgrounds reflecting the population and diversity of the city of Peterborough.
In addition to the community impact and benefits we provide from our specific cricket provision, the club is used by the wider community. Our facilities are used by local primary schools for competitions and they are used by nomadic cricket clubs who don't have any facilities for practice. The staff from the adjacent hospital use our facilities for staff events, meetings and cricket matches. We have also just begun a pilot programme with the NHS to allow the medical students who live on site to use our sports and social facilities. During the 2022 Easter and Summer school holidays we delivered the Government's Holiday Activity and Food Programme delivering cricket sessions, including a meal for a total of 24 days for children who are in receipt of free school meals. We will run this programme again in 2023. The clubhouse lounge is also used by a fitness group every week to deliver well-being / exercise classes for over 60s. We also host a knitting group once a week for over 60s which also has health and well-being benefits. As both our indoor and outdoor facilities improve it is our objective to make them available to more community groups.

This will be our second Crowdfunder, following a successful one in 2021 that saw us raise over £20,000+. That money was spent on ensuring the clubs future, after the COVID-19 pandemic caused us to lose around £15,000 of income, and allowed the purchase of crucial equipment including a new batting cage for our juniors, updating our practise equipment & facilities, and maintaining and servicing our ground preparation equipment. The campaign was such a success and was so well supported by not only our members, but local businesses and community, that we are going to give it another go in 2023!
We are crowdfunding to improve the facilities in our clubhouse. Specifically this will include refurbishing the mens and ladies toilets which are 48 years old, unhygienic and in poor condition, installing new flooring in the communal areas and changing rooms and decorating the entrance foyer to the clubhouse which is unwelcoming having not been decorated since 1976 when the building opened. It is vital these facilities are improved not only for our own members but all visitors and users including families. First impressions are vital and a welcoming, hygienic, compliant environment is critical to retaining members and users for the long term sustainability of the club.
As a sports club we are funded by our members contributions. Given the cost of living crisis we do not want to increase fees to cover both revenue and capital investment costs as participation / health and well-being remains our priority . Therefore, we are seeking external funding for this crucial refurbishment thus minimising the burden on our members and ensure that our club remains affordable to all those who wish to join, but with enhanced and welcoming facilities.
Additionally, we must ensure our facilities are suitable to meet the requirements of the growing demand for girls cricket. We offer girls cricket and are seeing great growth in this area. Indeed, since the 2022 Commonwealth Games, the Women's World Cup's and the Women's Hundred, we have seen a sharp increase in the number of young girls wanting to play cricket. Thus we must make sure the facilities offer for our girls (and their parents) a welcoming environment. Our updated facilities would also benefit the three other Commonwealth Games sports played on our site, namely bowls, hockey and squash.

New and specifically designed hygienic flooring will be laid in the ladies changing rooms and toilets
New urinals, toilet cubicles and sinks will be installed in the men's toilets along with new specifically designed hygienic flooring. New tiling on the walls will be installed
The foyer will be redecorated with bright colours with new noticeboards and signage installed. New carpets will also be laid
If we were to reach our stretch target, we would invest in new equipment for our junior cricket teams, including kit for beginners who are taking up the sport for the first time.
