Aim: We bring multi-sensory, interactive theatre experiences directly to children who cannot access the arts in traditional theatre spaces

Who are Embracing Arts?

For more than a decade, Embracing Arts has been creating, producing and delivering inclusive theatre, drama, music and sensory experiences for vulnerable children as well as their families and carers. Each year our high-quality, life-affirming shows, workshops and parties are enjoyed by thousands of young people with complex and additional needs who are isolated by illness or disability.

"Thank you and the team so much for your 'Chrimblesense' production - it was amazing! Our team absolutely loved it as it was better than any show we have ever had. They loved how much the children got from the experience and how tailored the show was." Teacher, SEND School, Essex

What we do

Our work is accessible for all, and we meet our audiences where they can be comfortable and benefit most: in hospices, living rooms, canteens, school halls & classrooms; in waiting areas or the middle of children’s wards. Our main services, Christmas for Kids Live & Digital (C4K), are provided free of charge. We also over story-based sensory workshops and bespoke party entertainment.

“The students really responded so positively and engaged with the sequence, props and overall sensory experience. The pace and interactive nature of the session meant that is could be personalised towards each pupil” - Teacher KS1 & KS2, SEND School, Birmingham

How we make a difference

We bring moments of joy at difficult times, whether to the sickest children in their final weeks of life, or to families growing up with sensory, mobility, communication or behavioural challenges. For those with whom we interact regularly, our services provide tools and space to practise and develop physical, verbal, engagement and interaction skills. The children, and the adults who love or care for them, can benefit from improved communication, emotional regulation, and community connection.

“We spent the entire month of December at home due to my daughter’s ill health. She missed all the usual Xmas activities and this was something special to engage with, to make us feel less isolated and alone” – Parent, East Anglia

We believe that every child deserves to experience the magic of theatre in a way that speaks to them. And at Embracing Arts, we deliver just that.
