We are raising money to redesign our choir website, to make our treasure trove of 200 protest songs more accessible
Protest in Harmony is a radical singing group in Edinburgh. We sing about peace, justice, the environment and human rights. The choir was founded in 2003 and our website is now more than 20 years old.
It’s an invaluable resource for us, giving details of our past and future events, including our monthly rehearsals, open to all.
More importantly, our website hosts an archive of almost 200 radical songs, used by our choir leaders, our members, other activist choirs and anyone interested in protest through song.
We want to make our site more visually appealing, to attract more publicity for the causes we support. We want it to be easier to use on mobile phones. And above all, we want to improve our search facility so our songs can be found by anyone who wishes to sing them.
A few of us in the choir started work on this project a couple of years ago. We’ve already done a lot of work on making the site more user-friendly. But we’ve now reached the limit of what we can do with the existing site. We now need £1,500 for a professional redesign. The money raised will all be directly spent on getting the website fit for purpose for the next 20 years.

We have more than 200 members on our mailing list. We’re inviting our members, friends and supporters, if they are able, to help us achieve our goal.
Update: 11 March 2026
It's just over a fortnight since we launched this crowdfunder and we have already exceeded our target! Thank you so much to all our wonderful supporters, far and wide.
The lovely comments from all those who have donated have really highlighted how much our Protest in Harmony activities, and our wonderful archive of songs, mean to so many people. That, in itself, has been worth the entire project.
We are going to keep the crowdfunder open for the full six weeks. Any extra money will be spent on further improvements to the website, such as getting some better photographs. Please do chip in!
Update, 7 April 2026: We did it!
We did it! Thank you so much to everyone who contributed to this appeal. We have reached our goal and this money will go directly to fund the much-needed redesign of our website. The extra will go towards commissioning some new photographs for the website. We are so grateful to all our wonderful supporters.
