Installing heating and insulation at the Resource Centre to create comfortable winter conditions for our volunteers, staff, and customers
Project by PROPER JOB RESOURCE CENTRE
We will spend the money from the stretch target on further installation to retain the heat in the units.
Help Us Heat Things Up: Winter is Coming. It’s Time to Bid Farewell to Frostbite at Proper Job.
As winter approaches, we at Proper Job are reaching out to our wonderful community for support. Known for our chilly temperatures during the colder months with temperatures as low as -4, our book and clothing cabins become unbearable for our customers and dedicated volunteers. This year, we aim to change that by installing a ‘proper’ heating system which will connect to our existing woodburner!
Thanks to the generosity of local business Bradford's Building Supplies, who have kindly offered to cover the cost of all building supplies, including radiators and copper piping and fixings we are now raising funds to hire a professional for the installation and to properly insulate our cabins.
With your help, we can make these vital improvements that will:
- Reduce dampness and condensation, protecting our stock during the winter months.
- Create a more comfortable shopping experience for our customers.
- Ensure better working conditions for our devoted staff and volunteers.
- Improve energy efficiency and reduce heating costs.
Our goal is to raise £2,000 to bring warmth to our charity and enhance the services we provide to the community. As part of our fundraising efforts, we’re thrilled to announce that Proper Job will be hosting Chagford Music Day on 31st August featuring 30 incredible local bands and musicians coming together to help support this cause!
Together, we can ensure that our charity remains a welcoming and comfortable space for everyone, even in the coldest months. Thank you for your support, and we look forward to warming up our cabins with your help!
This project addresses the Climate Action -
Emission Reduction - installing a heating system connected to an existing wood burner, the project utilises renewable biomass for heating, lowering reliance on fossil fuels and insulation will prevent heat from escaping.
Waste Reduction -Proper Job promotes the circular economy by encouraging reuse through its centre, helping to minimise waste going to landfills and conserving valuable resources.
Community Empowerment and Education - We engage the community by raising awareness about environmental issues and sustainable practices, empowering individuals to participate in climate action.
Sustainable Living - Offering affordable second-hand goods enables community members to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle."
