The aim of this project is to raise £5,500 for a 4-day shoot based in Greenwich, London, for the short film "Prom Fever" in August 2021.

The National Youth Film Academy, in association with A Bard A Dozen Films, provides an exceptional opportunity for talented young adults, from a range of diverse backgrounds and experience levels looking to cut their teeth in the filmmaking industry, to create short films.
The last year has changed our lives in so many ways - and has caused so much uncertainty - and, because of this, the story we want to tell carries significant effects from shared experiences over the course of this poignant moment in our history.
The team was more than committed and willing to rise to the challenge of commencing pre-production in the middle of the UK's most recent lockdown. In doing so, we have created a heartfelt story, a unique brand, and an experience which can be shared by many.

"Prom Fever" follows a group of misfit friends who discover that they have been unfairly graded for all of their courses. But, for them, failure is not an option...
The students rally and decide that the outlook for their futures can be whatever they choose. The responsibility for this rests solely on their shoulders, and they make a plan to break in to the school and alter their final grades (during the evening of their 70's themed prom, no less). Their task is great, the risks are dire, and it must all be attempted beneath the unsuspecting noses of their teachers.
Our determined protagonists begin to mentally deteriorate on account of their overwhelmingly stressful situation. They learn that there is strength in numbers and that this strength is magnified when they embrace their differences in the face of adversity in order to unite.
Ultimately, "Prom Fever" is a spectacular story with witty banter, a talented ensemble cast, and a whole lot of heart.
One night. One job. Life's biggest score... what do you say?

Our team is extremely talented, and no one member of the cast or crew is confined to the role they originally started on in the SetReady Programme.
Art Director Rohnak Sharma and Actor Rosie Fullilove pooled their skills in Photoshop and Illustrator to create our phenomenal logo and breathaking banner.
Their dalliance with Adobe has resulted in an unlimited set of unique assets that we can use to market our film (almost obsessively!).

The passion and dedication which the entire cast and crew have already shown during this process has been overwhelming!
We are group of extremely diverse individuals who have come together with a simple but strong idea. Navigating our way here has certainly brought about challenges but because we are so focused on conveying such an important and impactful message, we constantly strive to overcome these.
We believe this is a story the world needs right now and we are excited to see what the next stage of this process will bring (and the stage after that!).
With that said, let's meet the cast!

We want to tell a fun and exciting story in a time where light-hearted fun and a little drop of chaos is needed! Over the past two months we have discovered that our cast and crew have skills in many different areas and we plan to present as many as is possible.
As an example, Hannah Shackell doubles up as Stunt Choreographer for our hotly anticipated Combat Sequence. As another, Hannah Harquart has had the opportunity to flex her muscles as an Artist - singlehandedly creating exquisite oil paintings of the entire cast.
All of our cast will be contributing behind the scenes and, to show you, we plan to record and share the many different processes.

Our budget is set at £5,500 and will cover all of our production costs sufficiently. Our collective experience working on shoestring budget films - or, in some cases, no budget at all - has equipped us with the skills necessary to complete the project within this parameter.
In addition to this, our extensive planning ensures that we are not only prepared to pull off this ambitious post-pandemic project, but that we are extremely confident we will be able to do this well.
We understand that producing our short film within a pandemic is no small feat! However, we are determined to do so as we firmly believe it has a powerful story to tell and want to share this with the world.
We understand, of course, that government restrictions may be in place when we come to film in August (and perhaps for rehearsals prior to this) but have taken the necessary steps to ensure every precaution is taken. We want to complete our film safely.

Our first location is the lovely little café you can see below. This will be where we film our very first scene - the most pivotal one in "Prom Fever".
The generous owner has agreed to provide the space on a complimentary basis - and we shall shamelessly promote them once we have all the t's crossed, and the i's dotted.
We believe that the colourful venue will provide the perfect backdrop within which we can introduce our equally as vibrant characters to you.

We hope to see you at the Prom. Have you bought your ticket yet?
Please follow all of our social media for regular updates and original content! There are quite a few, so we've packaged them up in a neat way using Linktree.
