As part of our International Women's Day Campaign, we are raising money to provide everyone at Project Female with a Female Safety Alarm.
Women’s voices and creativity have been underrepresented and erased for centuries.
Through dance, art, and performance, we reclaim space, tell our stories, and celebrate strength.
As part of International Women's Day 2026, we're launching a campaign to provide female safety alarms for all young people who come to Project Female!

Alongside this campaign we're launching our new dance film 'In Her Steps'
Choreographed by Phoebe Tompsett and the dancers of Project Female, 'In Her Steps' explores what it’s like to navigate a world where safety is not guaranteed. This piece reflects the strength of women reclaiming their spaces, confronting fear, and asserting their right to move freely.
Over 70% of women in the UK report experiencing sexual harassment in public. Globally, almost 9 in 10 women feel unsafe in public spaces. These statistics are more than numbers—they are lived realities. Almost every woman knows the feeling of walking home with keys clenched between fingers, a phone ready in hand, and eyes glancing back every few seconds.
When safety is compromised—whether on the journey home, in the workplace, or in a shared public space—our movements are restricted. Boundaries close in. Life shrinks. In Her Steps responds to this pervasive experience and explores what it’s like to navigate a world where safety is not guaranteed. This piece reflects the strength of women reclaiming their spaces, confronting fear, and asserting their right to move freely.

Want to make a difference?
Join Project Female at our Female Safety Conference 'Project Protect' on Friday 13 March 2026.
We will be inviting the people who make key decisions to come and listen to your opinions so that we can raise awareness and explore practical solutions to violence and harassment affecting young people who identify as female.
