About the project

Living on benefits was never my aim.  When I had Maisey I was working full time and intended to remain employed, sadly the company I had been working for for 7 years was sold and the new company had other ideas about my continued employment. Having someone working from home 3 days a week was not in their plans and I was made redundant.

As my boyfriend left us when I was 7 months pregnant I have been unable to work in an office environment since my daughter was born. I am not keen on living on benefits and want better for myself and my daughter. Currently working anywhere other than my home is impractical as childcare costs would far outweigh any financial reward and the thought of working to pay someone else to look after my daughter is bizzar and alien to me.

I have therefore stated sewing. Every nap time and evening when the little one is in bed I am hard at work sewing and creating items of children's clothing that are unique and beautiful. To keep my dream alive, however, I need a small amount of investment in materials to get me up and runnig and able to make the desired clothing to sell on. This project has been created in order to get something started and so I can work hard and give my daughter a better start in life than benefits alone will allow.
