Aim

Raising funds to re-develop the Sobraon Barracks Cricket Ground, bringing cricket back to this historic venue in the heart of Lincoln.

Project 5K365

Lincolnshire Cricket’s Community Coach Steven Crossley and CEO Martyn Dobson have kicked off an incredible year‑long challenge: running a minimum of 5km every single day of 2026.

Yes — every day. No breaks. No excuses.

Here are the rules they’ve set themselves:

  • Run at least 5km every day of the year in 2026
  • It must be one continuous run (no splitting distances!)
  • Each 5K must be completed in under 30 minutes
  • Every run must be tracked and uploaded to Strava

They’re taking on this huge commitment to raise funds for essential equipment and practice facilities at our new home: The Barracks County Ground in central Lincoln.

Formerly known as the Sabroan Barracks Cricket Ground, the site had fallen into disrepair after more than two years of inactivity. Thanks to support from Sport England’s Grass Pitch Improvement Fund, Lincolnshire Cricket Ltd began restoring the outfield and square in late 2025 — the first step in bringing this historic ground back to life.

Once complete, the Barracks County Ground will become:

  • The home of  Lincolnshire Women’s County Team
  • A base for male and female county age‑group cricket
  • A center of cricketing excellence for future generations
  • A base for community projects, providing young people with opportunities to access cricket.

Every penny raised through the 5K365 challenge will go directly toward creating a high‑quality performance environment for players across the county.

Steven and Martyn will be completing their daily runs alongside as many members of the Lincolnshire cricket community as possible — and we’ll be sharing regular updates throughout the year.

If you’d like to support their journey and help us build something special, please donate.
