Aim

Raise funds for Rushmoor grassroots charities, starting with Aldershot Veterans Hub, supporting local community services and veterans.

Pride of Rushmoor Community Awards CIC (PoRCA) was created to celebrate the people and organisations who make our local community stronger. As we worked within the community, a clear pattern emerged, small grassroots charities and community groups are doing vital work, but many are struggling to survive due to limited funding and increasing demand for their services.

At the same time, we noticed that most charitable support tends to go towards large national organisations, while local groups often miss out. This imbalance has left many essential local services under pressure, despite being relied on every day by residents.

The fundraising walk was founded to help change that. Our vision is to build a stronger, more balanced culture of giving where national causes are supported, but local organisations are not left behind.

Our team is made up of community-focused individuals committed (all volunteers) to recognising and strengthening local impact. Through this fundraising walk, we are taking practical action by bringing people together to raise funds directly for local causes.

This year, we are supporting The Shots Foundation and their 'Supporting Military Veterans' programme, which provides vital support to veterans and their families, including events that bring people together and reduce isolation.

The money raised will go directly to supporting their ongoing work and specifically support this year's Veterans' Christmas Lunch and other days out that they put on for Veterans and their dependents. More broadly, it will support our vision of strengthening grassroots organisations across Rushmoor so they can continue to serve the people who depend on them.

This is the first step in building a long-term movement of local giving, connection, and community support.
