Aim
Ringworm is one of the most common ailments Hedgehogs will come to us with. Can you help us to get our prickles out of a pickle?
Ringworm causes prickle and fur loss in Hedgehogs, which we commonly see in new admissions to our rescue centre. This causes painful sores across their bodies, makes them susceptible to cold temperatures and vulnerable to predators as they have less spines to armour themselves.
Thankfully, there is a cure for ringworm, but for our small charity, this comes at a huge cost.
Ben here needed an exfoliation session to lift the dead skin and scabs that were all over his body. He could then have his much-needed treatment applied directly onto the skin to fight the ringworm. Ben is on the road to recovery and release since he’s been given the expert care he so desperately needed.
Ben was one of 20 hedgehogs at the time who were being treated for Ringworm, the costs of which came out of our vital funds. Your donation today will go towards:
- Buy the necessary medicine to cure ringworm and ensure regrowth of prickles and fur to get Hedgehogs like Ben ready for release back to the wild where they belong
- Buy soothing ointment for sores and scarring to ease their pain and discomfort
- Provide safe warm accommodation for our prickle-less patients while they recover in the safety of our rescue centre
- Provide specialist care from our expert team.
We are the only dedicated Hedgehog rescue in Cornwall and we need your support more than ever. We have seen a huge rise in the number of Hedgehogs that need our support and we cannot carry out our vital rehabilitation work without you.
