Every year over 123,000 young people in the UK face homelessness and the need continues to grow. SASH provides safe, supported accommodation
Who are we, and what is our project about?
Safe and Sound Homes (SASH) is a charity dedicated to preventing youth homelessness by providing safe, supported accommodation for young people aged 16–25 at risk of housing instability across York and surrounding areas. We work with trained hosts who offer a spare room in their home, giving young people immediate access to a safe and stable environment during a crisis. Our aim is to ensure no young person is left without a safe place to stay.
Alongside accommodation, we provide tailored one-to-one support to help young people overcome challenges such as family breakdown, financial hardship, and barriers to education or employment. We also help them build confidence and practical life skills, including budgeting, understanding living costs, and developing financial independence to reduce the risk of future homelessness.
Beyond meeting immediate housing needs, SASH is committed to achieving long-term, sustainable outcomes. By combining the generosity of our hosts with professional support, we create a nurturing environment where young people can improve their wellbeing, build resilience, and move forward with stability, independence, and hope.

Why are we crowdfunding?
We’re crowdfunding to help us prevent youth homelessness earlier and reach more young people across York and surrounding areas.
Right now, our funding is mostly short-term, which limits how much we can plan ahead or respond quickly to growing demand. Our reserves also aren’t enough to support the level of growth needed.
This funding would give us stability and flexibility to be more proactive, focusing on early intervention before crisis point. It would help us support more young people to find and keep safe accommodation, build financial skills, and move towards independent living.
It would also allow us to work more closely with partner organisations to reach those most at risk, meaning fewer young people reaching crisis point and more being supported into safe, stable, independent futures.

How we’ll spend the money raised
Your support makes a direct difference to vulnerable young people across York and the surrounding areas. Every donation helps us provide safe accommodation, vital support, and a pathway out of homelessness.

How you can help
There are three simple ways to get involved and support our project:
