To raise money for Pour and Serve, a new solo performance that flips the script on gender, power and ‘harmless’ banter.
Pour and Serve is part of On The Verge Festival 2017.
Six audience members sit at a bar as I pour drinks and serve humorous, disturbing and real stories from my time bartending. This immersive solo performance shows with unsettling clarity how language is intrinsic to a culture that permits violence against women.
Pour and Serve is on at the Masonic Hall, Liverpool from the 19th-21st October. It's part of On The Verge, a festival of work in unusual spaces which is supported by Hope Street Ltd. Your money will go towards props, marketing, space, travel and the myriad of other costs that are essential to making theatre happen.
This show is so important to me - while it's based on my own experiences I think immersive performance is the best place to begin a conversation around wider issues and start changing attitudes.
