A campaign led by children to raise 18k to purchase, install and equip a Playbox for Beech Hill Play Park, Wigan.
Help us reach at least £2,000. Wigan Council will generously match fund our total, up to a maximum of £2,000.
In July 2023 the Playbox visited Beech Hill Play Park for two weeks and a fantastic time was had by all. You can see how much fun we had together on the community YouTube channel. @SBHG
The kids decided they loved it so much that they set up this campaign to bring a permanent playbox to the community.
But not just any playbox, one designed by them that can be used all year round and has access to utilities too. A shelter in the winter and a place where all ages can have fun together.
To make this happen the kids need around £18,000 and have come up with lots of fundraising ideas. They reckon if every one of the 6400 households in the ward give a pound then we’ll be well on our way to reaching the funding target.
So give a quid or a little bit more if you can! Remember you can donate what you like by changing the amount in the box next to the orange button
Play is a great way to bring people together, to cataylse a space and to imagine the potential of what it could be. We want to raise £18,000 so that children and families in the community have access to a Playbox on a permanent basis. A space for the community to play, be imaginative, be creative and be together.
The £18,000 will allow the young people of Beech Hill to design the space THEY want, including fixtures, fittings and play stuff. The Playbox installation will include electricity, water and lighting to ensure the space can be used all year round and will be managed by the community for the community.
In just two weeks in July people said the park was more fun, felt safer, brought families together more and helped them feel more connected. It became a lively, fun, intergenerational and multicultural space and we certainly want more of that where we live!
The young people in the community have been so passionate about having our own Playbox they've been meeting regularly since the summer and have come up with a range of idea's to raise the funds from pyjama parties and pantomimes to this our Pound 4 Playbox campaign!
They worked out if every house gave £1 we'd be over a third of the way there already.
