About Me
I am a potter based in Bude, Cornwall and have spent the last 6 years proving to myself that I can be a potter! My life changed the minute my hands touched clay, it was like turning a light on. From that moment, I changed the trajectory of my life with the aim of becoming a potter and guess what, I did!
My journey began in the garden shed. I started at the very beginning in terms of selling, dragging my wares to fairs and markets and then soon managed to get some stockists too.
Current Set-up
Product demand had soon outgrown the shed and it was time to move into a rented premises. I have been in that rented farm unit space for 5 years now and I have grown my business within that time too. I have been teaching wheel-throwing for 2.5 years and have also joined forces with another local potter to provide lessons for the community.
My current workshop space is so cold and run down that it is becoming impractical as well as uncomfortable and a little embarrassing. I am also isolated on a farm away from any footfall etc. and would love to be in the heart of the community.
The Dream of a New Studio
I have been working towards the dream of having a professional studio space from the get-go and I feel that the time is now right in terms of giving my little business a boot up the bum.
So, my plan is to move premises into the town's small high street so that more people can find me and my work, generating sales to grow the business and offering the community a whole host of creative events at the same time. Not just a shop front but also a studio and class room.
The money raised would go towards 'the move' and cover much of the costs such as electricians to unwire my kiln and rewire into the new premises, Plumbing needs and decoration costs and refurbishment of the new premises too. If funds would allow, I would also invest in a new wheel for lessons as I have only ever had second hand equipment which can at times be unreliable. Funding would also contribute to some of the set up costs in terms of rent and legal fees.
I am a bubbly, passionate and hard working person, determined to succeed in every way and I would be forever indebted if you support me and my cause.
Any and all donations would be so hugely appreciated and there are plenty of Shore Fired goodies up for grabs in return which I'm sure you'll love!
