Let's get copies of Positive News magazine to NHS staff and hospitals nationwide, to support the wellbeing of healthcare workers

by Positive News in London, England, United Kingdom

 New stretch target

We've reached our initial funding target and now distributed 4,000 copies of Positive News magazine to NHS workers. But requests for Positive News are still flooding in from hospitals across the UK.

We don't want to turn any NHS staff down at this crucial time when they need positivity to help keep their spirits up. Please help us raise the funds to say yes to all their requests. The more support we get, the more copies of Positive News magazine we can print and distribute to bring respite and inspiration to NHS workers. Thank you!

“Minimise news that causes you to feel anxious or distressed,” and “find opportunities to amplify positive and hopeful stories", says the World Health Organization in its mental health guidance during the coronavirus pandemic.

We want to support the wellbeing of NHS workers across the UK by gifting them copies of Positive News – the magazine for good journalism about the good things that are happening in the world.

Half of healthcare workers are suffering from mental health problems such as stress, anxiety, trauma and burnout as a result of the coronavirus crisis, research published by the IPPR think tank has revealed.

You can help uplift NHS staff and bring them respite from the psychological pressures of this crisis, by backing this campaign to distribute our inspiring and beautifully designed magazine to them.

A number of hospitals have already been in touch with us to request Positive News magazine for their staff, so now we want to make complimentary copies available to healthcare workers nationwide.

Our initial target is to gift 4,000 copies, bringing hope and inspiration to 4,000+ NHS workers. Copies will be distributed directly to individual staff as well as to hospitals.

Back this campaign so that together, we can get Positive News magazine to frontline workers up and down the country, helping them to stay balanced and resilient.

"Deep thanks and huge gratitude to you for organising a delivery of Positive News magazine to Moorfields Eye Hospital. Our staff are pulling together at an unprecedented and challenging time and so it was a great pleasure to share the magazines with them." – David Probert, chief executive

What does my contribution cover?

For every £3 contributed, a copy of Positive News magazine will go to a nurse, doctor or other NHS worker. This is half the price of the magazine (usually £6) and covers the cost of printing and posting each copy.

How do NHS workers get a copy of the magazine?

Any NHS employee can get Positive News magazine sent to them directly, by visiting positive.news/nhs-employee and requesting a copy. The more funds we raise, the more of these requests we can fulfil, on a first-come-first-served basis.

How do NHS hospitals get copies?

Likewise, hospitals can make requests for multiple copies at positive.news/nhs-workplace. Once sufficient funds have been contributed to cover the direct costs of any copies a hospital requests, we'll then send these out. When the magazines arrive, the hospitals will then distribute them responsibly to their staff – either by giving them to individual workers or by placing them in suitable rest areas, for example.

Can my local GP practice sign up? How do I get copies to them?

Please do encourage your local GP's, hospital, or other NHS location to benefit from this opportunity. You can let them know that all they need to do is visit positive.news/nhs to request copies for their location – or they can share the link with their staff, who can make individual requests for a copy.

Can I nominate an NHS employee to receive a copy?

Yes. Visit positive.news/nhs-nominate to nominate someone who you think would benefit from receiving a copy of the magazine. You'll need to share an email address for your nominee and we will then invite them to complete further details to receive a copy.
