Posh Pod Camping - acquiring our first 'Posh Pod'

Aim

Our goal is to raise the funds to purchase our first 'Posh Pod', in order to provide rental experiences for UK staycations from May 2021

Hi, we’re Alan and Jen! We’re looking for support to help start our new business, ‘Posh Pod Camping’, providing the perfect way for people to explore, escape and experience the wonders of the UK. Read on further to see how you can become a 'pea in our pod'.

Our vision is to carve out a niche which celebrates all things ‘Pod’. To put a spotlight on a solution that sits in-between the hassle of tent camping and the stress of caravanning & motor-homing, all the while giving you the flexibility to unapologetically experience, escape and explore. We will create one home for pods, bringing together owners, renters and suppliers.

• Do you crave adventure? 
• Have you been camping before, but have grown tired of the hours spent setting up your tent in the rain, to then succumb to a cold, damp, sleepless night? 
• Have you hired a motorhome or camper van only to find yourself constrained by it’s size, and complex set-up?
• Have you thought a caravan was the answer, but are worried about the training and legalities involved in towing one? Not to mention their lack of character…

We’ve tried them all and also believe that the world’s too big to be limited by fixed options like yurts, hotels and B&B’s. 

At Posh Pods Camping, we believe that the stylish, compact, charming, and versatile teardrop trailer (or posh pod as we call them) is the answer. A teardrop trailer, or ‘Posh Pod’, is a streamlined, compact, lightweight, and often charming, travel trailer, which gets its name from its ‘teardrop’ profile.

They can be towed by almost any car and on a standard license, they require zero to minimal setting up, and can be moved into place by hand. They have sleeping space and most have a basic kitchen in the rear. This makes them the ideal solution in providing a slice of luxury from which to comfortably rest your head as you explore, escape and experience the wonders of the UK. 

With the nation set for a staycation boom, people will be in need of new options from which to reflect, escape and gain respite from the increasing pressures of everyday life, and ‘Posh Pods’ will help provide the answer for the those adventurous enough to try one out. 

To begin this venture, we require some start-up capital to acquire our first pod which will be used to provide staycation experiences, allowing anyone to start enjoying the world of Posh Podding!

We will provide three options for rental:

• Explore: collect the pod and off you go, unapologetically exploring to your heart’s content
• Escape: We arrange it all, you just have to arrive. All-inclusive packages allowing you to escape the pressures of everyday life. Choose from our ‘digital detox’, ‘lone wolf’, or ‘rambler’s paradise’ packages, to name just a few
• Experience: Are there events you’ve always wanted to fully immerse yourself within? Why not stay in a Posh Pod at Goodwood’s motor racing events, Glastonbury, or Cowes Week?

We have a wide range of other ideas for the future, all celebrating ‘posh pods’ and providing various services to renters, owners and service providers, but our first step has to be to for you to experience these wonderful trailers for yourself. 

BUT to be able to provide these exciting ventures we need your help. We have all the resources to begin Posh Pod Camping, with the exception of the full capital required to acquire our first teardrop trailer.

For years now, we have stopped buying each other ‘gifts’, instead choosing to treat ourselves to experiences that create memories and allow us to grow as human beings. This is why we’re so passionate about Posh Pod Camping. When you go away, it shouldn’t be about the specifics of your accommodation, but what that accommodation allows you to experience, and how it enables you to make the most of your valuable time away. Pods provide this solution for everyone. With their small size and mobility, they can take you to remote places inaccessible to bulky motorhomes, and far away from your favourite hotels, whilst ensuring that elusive good night’s sleep that isn’t always guaranteed in a tent.

We know this first-hand, with literally hundreds of nights spent between us in all sorts of tents, motorhomes and camper-vans. We’ve camped all over the UK, in locations ranging from the west coast of Wales, to the Scottish Highlands, to the remote island of Jersey. We’ve experienced all the different types of camping options, and understand their limitations and issues.  Alan even spent six solid months living in a pop-up trailer whilst touring between 14 American NASCAR races, covering 27,000 miles, back in 2004 - but that’s a whole different story!

On top of that we have spent our careers creating and hosting experiences all over the UK and Europe. We also have an instinctive eye for making things homely, and our combined professional backgrounds in graphic design, hospitality, wellbeing, travel and business provides the perfect range of skills to unlock the true potential of Posh Pod Camping. 

BUT we cant do any of this without you. We’ve carved some money aside to help get us started, but are asking for your support to help raise the final £3,900 in order to purchase our first Posh Pod. In return, we’ve come up with exciting rewards which are designed to celebrate the character, and versatility of ‘posh pods’.
