Who are we?
Established in 2015, Newport Aces, is a welcoming community basketball club. We offer community, developmental, and competitive basketball sessions, all year round.
Newport Aces was created by Newport’s own international and former semi-professional, Asa Waite. With one mission in mind; to offer the opportunity to play basketball more often.
Newport Aces has built a basketball community, by supporting all ages, abilities, and motives for basketball participation.
Our ‘Grass-Root to Elite-Class Performance pathway, continues to engage, inspire, and develop. The next generation of basketball players.
Why are we crowdfunding?
As the main provider of basketball in Newport and the surrounding areas. We have a responsibility to maximise each players experience, their individual development, and the opportunities to progress.
We are raising funds, to purchase a new portable, automatic sports camera. The camera will be used to engage and develop players of all ages, even further. By creating the opportunity to revisit key moments of games, for self-reflection and video analysis. Our coaching standards and the quality of our weekly team training sessions, will improve. As coaches can quickly identify development needs, including individual technical skill, tactical and conceptual understanding.
Via weekly live streams, that will be available on all free streaming platform and social media posts and reels.. The camera will also improve both our clubs' and Welsh basketballs publicity, exposure and general visibility, both locally and nationally. Celebrating the impacts of our services.
How we’ll spend the money raised?
All the funds raised, will be spent on the new portable automatic sports camera and the monthly subscription that accompanies the camera. If the full amount of funds are raised, we will purchase the camera and the monthly subscriptions for a period of two years, for £2,000.
Community impact
Our values of; passion, compassion, commitment, togetherness, and the pursuit for greatness. Both on the court and in our wider community, support local communities all over Newport. To improve their sense of togetherness, their sense of self-worth, and improve community cohesion.
How you can play your part
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
