Aim

Help us bring a very Port Isaac Christmas to Truro Cathedral this year! Retiring collection in aid of the RNLI and the FOCS.

Join us for a very special evening celebrating the rich traditions and carols of Port Isaac!

The Federation of Old Cornwall Societies is delighted to be bringing this Port Isaac Christmas to Truro Cathedral this year. Featuring more than 70 singers from four community singing groups originating from this beautiful North Cornish village, come along and join in with festive classics like the Sans Day Carol and While Shepherds Watched, and soak up beloved local favourites such as Love Came Down at Christmas and Hark The Glad Sound. Children from Port Isaac Academy will also be taking part with a beautiful lantern parade.

This special performance at Truro Cathedral shares the theme of Port Isaac’s traditional village lantern parade this year: ‘One Starry Night’ which celebrates the spirit of Port Isaac’s community shining together and supporting each other.

With musical traditions kept alive by the musical director of the Port Isaac Chorale, Janet Townsend MBE, and visual content directed by local artist Caroline Cleave and curated with Port Isaac Heritage group, this will be an evening of shared song and tradition to remember.

We have are grateful for support from Gorsedh Kernow, Truro City Council, St Endellion Parish Council, Cornwall Councillors Rosie Moore (Waderbridge and St Minver East), Rob Nolan (Truro: Boscawen and Redannick), and Steven Webb (Truro: Moresk and Trehaverne) already, but we are still working towards the total.

The service will be free for all to attend, and all the organisational work is done voluntarily. The Federation of Old Cornwall Societies fundraises to meet the costs of putting on the service. We are splitting this retiring collection with the RNLI and once all costs are met, all money above this total will go directly to the RNLI.
