Aim

Pontarddulais Cricket Club – Sight Screens Replacement – Our current Sight Screens have weathered over time and are beyond repair

Who are we?

Pontarddulais CC runs 4 open age Saturday teams and a midweek team to come with the demand of participants within the club. We also run a Ladies Softball team which predominantly plays their fixtures on a Sunday. On the Junior front we have 7 junior teams playing in the South Wales Junior Cricket League and 2 Girls teams playing in the Cricket Wales run competitions. We have nearly 150 playing members participating in cricket from within these teams. We also run successful All-stars and Dynamos programmes (age 5-11). For the 2025 programme we have 126 participants – The biggest in the Swansea Local Authority, of which 41 are girls.

Why are we crowdfunding?

Without the replacement ground equipment, we would simply not be able to facilitate such participation levels for all at the club.

By purchasing the new equipment, we really would be ensuring the long-term sustainability of the club. Having had the previous Sight Screens for 15 years we would hope that the equipment we wish to purchase will give us as much service as the equipment they would be replacing.

How we’ll spend the money raised

The cost of the screens is £5,500 and we are hoping to raise half of this amount through crowdfunding with Sport Wales match funding whatever we raise.

Community impact

The number of people set to benefit from this project would be 270 playing members. These numbers are projected to rise to 285 by 2027.

The community of Pontarddulais will benefit by having a physical activity which is good for physical health as it is a sport that many people can participate in, while also aiding people’s mental health by offering support to those who need it in a team environment whilst participating and likewise for members off the field who are grateful of the opportunity of supporting the various teams while getting to socialise with other club members.

How you can play your part

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.

2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.

3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!

4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
