Aim

Poetry Walk SW9 is a project that gives poems legs. We walk, we stop and we listen to poetry performed in our own neighbourhood.

We need your help to make our poetry walk become reality!

Poetry Walk SW9 is a project that gives poems legs. We walk, we stop and we listen to poetry performed in our own neighbourhood.

During the Stockwell Park Summer Festival in June 2018 festival goers will be taken on a literary stroll in the Stockwell Park area. We will listen to poetry in the launderette, the high rise roof top, the hairdressers, in the park and other inspirational locations.

The Poetry Walk will create shared experiences for local people through poetry and walking, visiting familiar places in a diverse and lively neighbourhood.

Your support will fund:

  • subsidised/free tickets
  • design and print of poetry map
  • record of the event; film, photography, scrapbook and audio.
  • access to locations

'No Man is an Island' by John Donne (1624)

No man is an Iland, intire of itselfe; every man
is a peece of the Continent, a part of the maine;
if a Clod bee washed away by the Sea, Europe
is the lesse, as well as if a Promontorie were, as
well as if a Manor of thy friends or of thine
owne were; any mans death diminishes me,
because I am involved in Mankinde;
And therefore never send to know for whom
the bell tolls; It tolls for thee.
