Project aim

Bringing poetry to the disadvantaged who cannot ordinarily easily access it and allow those too busy to read, relax and have it read to them

About the project

I currently work two jobs and have found I am no longer writing or reading because I work long hours and am too tired when I come home. Poetry has and always will be my first passion and it has got me thinking about the times when people want to read poetry but never get too, because they are too busy or too tired, poetry meditation classes would be a way for them to unwind and relax. Studies have shown being read poetry relaxes the mind and eases stress and we all know the benefits of meditation.

That lead me on to thinking about people who may enjoy peorty or getting to know poetry but may not be able to access it because of disbailities, maybe learning disabilities, blindness or dyslexia and what a joy it would be to allow people to experience the wonderment of contemporary poets being read to them whilst also reaxing in the calm and safe environemnt of meditation.

I believe this is a unique take on poetry and meditation and as I used to take meditation classes and have worked with poetry most of my life it would be a great way to bring both together.

Initially I would need to leave one of my jobs to do this and hire a room for classes and get equipment like a micropone, cd player etc, this is where crowd funding comes in, your help would be mighty appreciated.

I have worked hard in life, recovered from many illnesses and been a career for my mum who has mental health problems. I would love to receive some help to enable me to do a job I enjoy but also that helps people. One of the jobs I currently have is with a local charity which works creatively with disadvanted adults and young people.
