We've managed to achieve partnership with the FA for a 3G pitch in Plympton. Please help us to raise funds towards the overall project.

The health and wellbeing of our community is never more important to get right. The levels of obesity are rising and we want to do something about it. Ridgeway School has sat at the heart of our community for a very long time and providing facilities to be proud of is very important to us. We have just refurbished and extended the Community Sports centre that is proving a very popular destination for indoor sports. We now need to address the outside areas and are working with the FA to provide a 3G pitch that will be available to all. We want to provide a first class facility for our deserving community in order to make a real difference. Plympton has long been overlooked for such a facility and many people have to travel across the city to access decent training venues or play matches because the grass pitches are waterlogged.
Join us and support this fantastic project!
The FA and Devon County FA are working with Ridgeway Academy to develop a funding application to the Football Foundation to deliver a 9v9 size 3G Football Turf Pitch (FTP) on the academies site. The Plympton area has been strategically identified in the emerging Plymouth Plan for Pitches as an area in need of a 3G FTP. The project is obviously subject to gaining full planning permission, being financially viable and demonstrating strong football Development outcomes with high participation figures. Lee Rider, Regional Facilities & Investment Manager (South West), The FA Group.
Plympton has needed a 3G facility for a great number of years. We are currently sending teams across the city for training facilities and have numerous match games postponed owing to the weather. This facility will allow the club to train at the same location and provides a fantastic sporting venue for the local community. Teresa Hill, Secretary Chaddlewood Miners AFC
This is an exciting opportunity for Plympton and this new sporting development further underpins our commitment to our local community. With the provision of the 3G pitch, our growing student numbers, their families and the wider Plympton community are guaranteed a superb facility where they can enjoy football, whatever level they're playing at. Ms Boorman, Principal Ridgeway School
Our target on Crowdfunder is to raise £10,000 and we need your help to make that happen.
Ridgeway School sits at the heart of the Plympton community with a population of 37,000 people and is passionate about providing facilities for all to use. For a long time now, the Plympton community have been overlooked in the provision of outdoor playing spaces, we are the only area in Plymouth that does not have an artificial pitch and we need your help to change that. As you can appreciate, the funds needed for such a project run into the hundreds of thousands and, at a time when school budgets are becoming ever increasingly tighter, it is never more important to find partnership funding. The total project cost will be in the region of £400 - £450k and has been underwritten by the FA and the School, however, we need to raise this money to demonstrate the community's support for the project and to make it the success it deserves to be.
The challenge is to raise funds for new equipment so that the facility is one that the whole community can be proud of and allow the next generation of sporting individuals the opportunity to utilise facilities that are easily accessible in a modern and inviting setting. This will create a lasting transformation in access to sporting facilities for the people of Plympton and the wider Plymouth areas.
As you can appreciate, a project of this scale is very expensive and although we have obtained match funding with the FA, the school is looking to raise additional funds to create a truly fantastic facility for the local community and Plymouth.
If we were to successfully fund this project and then overfund it, this would enable us to provide even more.
As you will have read above, this facility would be the only one of its kind in the community and, as such, its importance cannot be underestimated. Plympton is deserving of high quality sports facilities that are easily accessible by all and therefore needs your support to make it a reality.
If you think that this is a worthwhile project, all you need to do is click 'PLEDGE' on the right of this page and follow the instructions. Please help us to spread the word about his fantastic project as far and wide as you can - tell your friends, family, neighbours and colleagues.
Together we can make a real impact!
