We are crowdfunding for our own Pride event as well as the creation of the 2026 pride guide

Hello! We are Plymouth Community Pride, last year in 2025 after the cancellation of our cities main pride celebration, we came together with a lot of other small businesses in Plymouth to celebrate Plymouth Community Pride.

It was wonderful to see Plymouth's vibrant and lively LGBTQIA+ community come together to celebrate pride in whatever way they wanted.

Since then we have stayed present in the community, putting on events such as Queer Performers, Queer Makers Markets and Trinket Trade.

We are really excited to see that Plymouth Pride CIC, are planning to make a comeback this year with the main pride event on the Hoe as well as the all important march. We plan to support and attend parts of the event, however, we also want to hold our own. Our reason for this is not to compete with the main pride event, but to compliment it.

Over the last year of being active we have held small, local events that have strengthened our relationship with both the LGBQTIA+ community and the neurodivergent community, amongst others.  Smaller, fringe events surrounding pride are important, and we want to help pride be amongst the whole city once again just like last year.

We are a small community group and therefore we do not get very much in the way of funding, a lot of our events come out of the organiser's pockets simply because we love what we do and we are happy to do it, but to do the things we did last year it is going to take a bit more then what we currently have so that is why we are asking for any help! Anything from £1.00 can help us team up with venues and people in Plymouth to bring a city wide pride again.

Our Project Overview:

1. Plymouth Community Pride at the Barbican Theatre

On the 11th July 2026 we want to hold an all-day event at the Barbican Theatre. The event would host a queer maker's market, workshops/speakers/panels followed by an evening cabaret.

The event would begin after the march run by Plymouth Pride C.I.C, allowing everyone to attend as we recognise its importance. The Barbican Theatre is also within close proximity to the Hoe allowing people to attend both events if they'd like too.

Our event would benefit traders who aren't able to trade at Plymouth Pride due to disability, affordability or lack of resources (eg. a gazebo, tables) and our event benefits people who would like to celebrate pride indoors amongst peers. We will also celebrate local performers, as well as new performers who may not have the portfolio required to perform on the main pride stage yet.

Costs of the venue opening its doors can be upward of £500.

2. Creating the Pride Guide 2026 - Celebrate Pride your way

Last year, we created the incredibly popular Plymouth Community Pride guide, it included a list of local resources, a QR code to a linktree with local LGBTQIA+ fundraisers, and a map with every pride event taking place across the city as well as a key which detailed accessibility information.

We received lots of great feedback on this guide and would love the opportunity to create a even better one this year!

The printing costs alone for the guide are upward of £200.

3. Working with and championing small businesses

Last year we learnt how many small and/or local businesses across Plymouth love pride and are welcoming of the LGBQTIA+ community, pride is bigger then one event and a wider celebration is even more important in our current political climate. We want to reach out to even more businesses this year and promote engagement between more local venues/businesses and the LGBTQIA+ community.

4. Support local fundraisers for local people

At all of our events, we fundraise for local LGBQTIA+ causes, including giving to those that are raising money for transgender medical care and other medical needs, as well as helping businesses and organisations that benefit the LGBTQIA+ community. We are passionate about our events also being an opportunity to give back to the community.

Our initial goal

Our initial goal to make the event happen is £1000, anything we make will go into the above project.
