We'd like to people to pledge their support to enable us to pay for some additional costs to have the satellite equipment installed (the planning application for example is a cost of £385). We would also like to use additional income to cover the costs of bringing experts in theatre, dance or opera to Plymouth Arts Centre to introduce and talk about the live screenings, giving the audience a really unique experience.
Project Description
To raise £3,000 so that people can enjoy ballet, theatre, opera and exhibitions in our cinema streamed live from shows at national theatres
About the project
We’ve been showing films in our cinema at Plymouth Arts Centre for many years now and we would like to be able to bring live theatre, opera, ballet, and footage from exhibitions, to our cinema for people to enjoy here in Plymouth. Our aim is for people to be able to watch productions like Hamlet live on stage in Stratford from the Royal Shakespeare Company, or Swan Lake at the Bolshoi, or a private view of exhibitions such as the David Bowie Exhibition at the V&A in London – all without the expense and hassle. With live streaming it’s almost as if you are actually at the event, especially if you have a glass of wine during the interval – or at Plymouth Arts Centre, you can enjoy a drink during the film as well!
Why do we need to raise the money?
In order to do this, we need to invest in the equipment – the satellite dish, the decoder and all the various kit, along with the installation. As a charity, money is always tight, and we really need your help with this so that more people, who otherwise might not have the opportunity, will get to experience these great shows. And, we will be able to bring new audiences to Plymouth Arts Centre, making our small cinema more sustainable.
