Aim

Help secure the future of the Plough & Fleece by funding essential improvements to our community-owned pub.

Our Story

The Plough & Fleece is much more than a pub. It is a place where neighbours meet, friends celebrate, families gather and visitors discover everything that makes Horningsea special.

In 2012, the people of Horningsea came together to secure the future of the pub by purchasing it through the Horningsea Community Interest Company (CIC). Thanks to that incredible support, the village now owns this historic building for the benefit of current and future generations.

Since then, we've welcomed new tenants, seen the pub be at the heart of our community.

Owning a historic building, however, also brings responsibility.

Like any well-loved home, the Plough & Fleece needs regular care and investment. Some essential maintenance simply cannot wait, and as custodians of the building the CIC is committed to carrying out that work to protect the pub for years to come.

Rather than delaying important repairs, we will commission the work as needed and invite the community to help replenish the funds afterwards. This approach ensures that essential maintenance happens when it is needed while keeping the CIC financially healthy and able to continue investing in the pub.

Our Community Pub Improvement Fund

We've broken our fundraising into a series of clear, achievable projects.

🏠 Project 1 – Roof Repairs

Target: £1,800

The roof protects everything beneath it. These repairs are essential to prevent further deterioration and safeguard the building. There are some urgent repairs that we will carry out now so that the pub can remain operational.

🎨 Project 2 – Exterior Painting

Target: £840

A fresh coat of paint will protect the exterior woodwork and help keep the Plough & Fleece looking as welcoming as the community deserves.

🌿 Project 3 – Garden Improvements

Target: £2,550

Our garden has become one of the pub's most popular spaces. Improvements will make it even more attractive, comfortable and enjoyable throughout the year. We will clear an area under the trees and create a place in the shade where people can enjoy the warm summer days.

How the Campaign Works

We'll work through each project and as each fundraising milestone is reached, we'll announce that the project has been fully funded and keep everyone updated with photographs and progress.

Every donation—large or small—helps strengthen the CIC, allowing it to continue maintaining and improving this community-owned asset.
