Your support makes a difference
My new project Pleasure Imprints is a performance (in an installation) and a fundraiser for my gender affirming care.
"Feral resistance to the practical and political challenges of transition, particularly at a time of increased discrimination and restrictive legislation faced by trans and queer people."
Hi! I'm Kitt, a trans artist based in North East England. I call my work Mess Making As Social Glue. I'm insatiably curious about how art can be useful, particularly for creating solutions, solace, connections and mischief. I make installations and performances, and I've been working full time as a self-employed artist for 7 years.
What is Pleasure Imprints:
Pleasure Imprints is my new project: a performance within an installation, and a fundraiser for my gender affirming care.
Trans healthcare in the UK is hugely under-resourced. In my local area, the waiting list for an initial appointment is 6 years and 10 months. Waiting that long would have an extremely detrimental effect on my mental health, so I've decided to raise money to pay for the care I need privately.
Despite the practical and political challenges of transition, particularly in the context of increasing discrimination and restrictive legislation facing trans and queer people, my overwhelming experience of being trans is dead joyful. Pleasure Imprints reflects that.
In an installation full of raw clay and fresh flowers, I "clart about"*: using mud and petals to decorate, delight in, and reimagine my body. The installation is lusciously textured, made from vintage fabrics and flowers, and inspired by my gran's 1980s council house and garden, an unexpected place of acceptance and safety during a chaotic and semi-nomadic childhood.
*Clart about: County Durham Pitmatic dialect for "mess on / mess about"
The Fundraiser

Other rewards include mentoring sessions with me, signed books, zines, and prints by other artists and curators.
