Aim: The coming months are a huge challenge for many businesses. With your help, Sea Change will survive this. Please support us if you can.

Due to government guidance around social contact and covid-19 we have taken the hard decision to close Sea Change to the public for the time being and operate an alternative, reduced service to the local community.

Cafe visitors account for 95% of our business and our mission to provide sustainable employment for people with autism. The team recognises that urgent action is needed to ensure that Sea Change survives.

We are confident that with the help of our loyal customers old and new, we can survive this challenging time by offering fresh delivery boxes and vouchers pledged towards future visits to our cafe.

To be clear, Sea Change does not want hand outs or freebies. It would be fantastic if customers were prepared to buy one of our  delivery boxes or pledge the price of their usual order (from a cuppa, to a meal deal) and receive a voucher to be used as soon as we are fully operational again .

What difference does it make?

Sea Change is a non-profit organisation and as such is not in the position to hold on to much in the way of cash reserves. We operate from a rented building and on top of staff costs we have lots of other financial commitments in the way of rent, utilities, insurances, music licenses and so on.

It is not just the business and the staff who are affected:

  • We have a loyal customer base, many who use the cafe as a meeting and socialising point.
  • There is a fantastic team of volunteers who help out with activities, some of whom have been socially isolated but are making progress with confidence and social skills.
  • There are artists who use our venue to play music or display work and earn income.
  • There is a range of local groups that use our venue to meet including the young person's Esteem group.

For new customers and people who are just finding out about Sea Change

Unemployment. Isolation. Lack of opportunity. It’s a tide that millions of UK adults diagnosed with autism and learning difficulties – have been hit by, for too long.Sea Change was established with a determination to turn that tide – by offering inspiration, inclusion and employment to adults with a diagnosis that have the talent to contribute and be recognised.

We ask project owners to honour their rewards wherever possible but please note that all pledges are donations and there is no guarantee that you will receive any rewards from the project owner. Please see Crowdfunder's Terms of Use for more information regarding rewards for pledges.
