Mae is 13yrs old and was diagnosed with Leukaemia last year. She has recently received a bone marrow transplant.
Mae was diagnosed with Leukaemia in December last year. She has spent six months in hospital. She received a bone marrow transplant, donated by her nine year old sister.- Mae was in intensive care for two weeks following the transplant with some severe complications. Fortunately she has now made a strong recovery, and recently she has been able to go home to continue her treatment - though she still needs to attend hospital twice a week for treatment.
- This has understandably been a very difficult and stressful time for the whole family. Not only has this caused a great deal of worry and distress, but also significant disruption and uncertainty.
- Mae’s mother is self employed and has been unable to work throughout this time. Through some extremely generous donations to the previous appeal, over £10,000 was raised to support the family which was so helpful to help them manage during the intensive treatment phase.
- This appeal is to raise further funds to support the family during Mae’s recovery, and enable the family to plan a much needed holiday following the treatment.
