Aim

Mae is 13yrs old and was diagnosed with Leukaemia last year. She has recently received a bone marrow transplant.

  • 1655241986_90eb6f4a-09c9-4363-91af-f367a9c3fddf.jpegMae was diagnosed with Leukaemia in December last year. She has spent six months in hospital. She received a bone marrow transplant, donated by her nine year old sister.
  •  Mae was in intensive care for two weeks following the transplant with some severe complications. Fortunately  she has now made a strong recovery, and recently she has been able to go home to continue her treatment - though she still needs to attend hospital twice a week for treatment.
  • This has understandably been a very difficult and stressful time for the whole family. Not only has this caused a great deal of worry and distress, but also significant disruption and uncertainty.
  • Mae’s mother is self employed and has been unable to work throughout this time. Through some extremely generous donations to the previous appeal, over £10,000 was raised to support the family which was so helpful to help them manage during the intensive treatment phase.
  • This appeal is to raise further funds to support the family during Mae’s recovery, and enable the family to plan a much needed holiday following the treatment.
