We're still collecting donations
On the 30th November 2020 we'd raised £8,050 with 121 supporters in 221 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
Since having to close our doors due to the Corona virus, we have had no income. Our rescue horses need your help!

Extra money will continue to feed and care for the horses
*We have extended our target as , due to the re-introduction of quarantine in the Uk, we still have no sign of any income on the horizon. Our recent hay deliver alone is a bill of 4500 euros , but of course with horses there are many more expenses and we have all the other rescue animals to care for as well as our own living expenses. The arrival of a stray mum cat and 2 kittens has added to our problems, we will need to have the Mum sterilised very soon or she will be pregnant again and the kittens will also need to be sterilised in the near future.
Your continued help is very much appreciated, thank you.

Cortijo Los Lobos, ethical horsemanship
Our small family riding holiday business was started 20 years ago as a means of funding the care of the rescue horses and other animals and is our only income. Without the money from our holiday bookings we have no income. Being self employed we can get very little help from the government especially now that Spain is technically open for business. Over the years the business has grown from strength to strength. We started with just one cottage, the pool and stables, building and restoring with our own bare hands, and year by year the farm grew to provide more accommodation and the beautiful landscaped gardens you see today.
It has been a labour of love and we are very proud of what we have achieved. We still work tirelessly to maintain and improve the farm. With so many animals to care for and the struggles over the years with recessions and other problems, it has never been possible to save any money so we have very little to fall back on.

We have rehabilitated and trained our horses using positive reinforcement, they are all bitless and barefoot and are much loved family pets who will be with us until the day they die. This is a photo of Irene when she was rescued and how she is today. Our horses well being is paramount to us and we cannot let them down.
As the herd ages, as well as making our rides walk only, we have moved into a lot more ground based work, hosting courses such as clicker training and agility, hoof trimming, equine massage, all designed to benefit both horses and guests, so that when the day eventually comes, that all our horses are too old to ride, we can still provide horse holidays to interest guests, even taking a horse for a walk in hand is a fun thing to do. We have been accepted by the Non Ridden Equine Association. This means that we also promote non ridden horse activities.
We currently have 13 horses, most of them enjoying their retirement days. We also have 4 rescue cats and two rescue dogs as well as our cute rescue sheep Minty, and hens and cockerel who free range the garden.
You can read the story of our move to Spain 20 years ago and our rescue animals in my book 'No time for a Siesta' - available in paperback or for Kindle from Amazon here :- No time for a siesta .
Your money will help us to carry on caring for our animals , buying food, paying vets bills and keeping our business afloat until the time that we can start taking guests again. Our animals are a much loved part of our family and we have promised them that we will survive. However, we don't like to ask for simple donations, though of course a donation will be great if you can spare it. Instead , if you wish , you can purchase home made crafts or maybe you would like a reduced price holiday to look forward to when this nightmare is over, or perhaps you could pay a deposit towards a future holiday? You could also sponsor one of our lovely horses - they are all such lovable characters . Your sponsorship money would pay for hay for your horse or pony for 2 weeks.
Holiday dates can be agreed in the future, once we know what is happening.
Thank you for reading, hope you stay safe and sending you love and best wishes from Clive, June and all the animals at Cortijo Los Lobos
