Our friend and his family came to Wales seeking asylum after they fled Central America to escape violence and murder. J is a coffee farmer who was victimised as he refused to do the bidding of criminal gangs, and the police did not offer them any protection. He was hit in the face with the butt of a rifle, sustaining serious injuries that required surgery, kidnapped, and money stolen from him. Following on from this nightmare, family members were tortured and murdered.
Since they moved to Wales J's family have done everything they can to integrate into Welsh society and the Swansea community. J has volunteered for several community interest projects and works all his permitted hours in a Nature Conservation Project, where he has been instrumental in its development. His wife, who is a fully trained Emergency Department nurse, has also volunteered in social projects to help other people. Their children are flourishing at school, and their son is a rising star in the Welsh grassroots football scene whilst their daughter participates in Welsh language poetry competitions.
They are good people, who are making valuable contributions to Welsh society. If they are deported back to their country, they risk facing further violence and murder. Their children would also be at risk of being used as mules by the Narco gangs. J and his family are, understandably, terrified.
They want nothing else but to settle in Wales and enjoy the safety and security that would come with refugee status and to work, be independent and fully contribute to society. But in order to achieve this, they urgently need to raise sufficient funds to pay for an expert in Immigration Law.
J’s Solicitor estimates that this will cost at least £5,000 to £6,000, which J and his family cannot afford on their own. They need your help. Please donate!
