Moonacre Sanctuary has massive debts and is on the verge of going under. If funding cannot be sourced - the animals will die!

by Cheryl Maddox in Cyprus

Our aim is to clear the debts and enable this fantastic and unique sanctuary to continue its care for the 36 dogs (24 disabled), 15 horses (4 disabled), 21 cats (2 disabled), 2 pigs, 8 chickens and 1 disabled tortoise.

Their landlord is threatening to evict them. They cannot pay their utility bills and vets won’t  treat the animals unless they pay in advance. The food suppliers won’t give them any more credit and the animals will starve as no one else will take responsibility for these animals if the sanctuary fails!

We would like to provide a sustainable future by raising money to cover the debts and raise their profile so that more people can get involved in their life saving work.

They have an international volunteering programme to help educate potential animal carers and trainee vets, but cannot afford to accommodate them when they cannot feed themselves.

This sanctuary is a home for life for many of these animals, although some are up for adoption now that they have fully recovered from their illnesses and injuries, so sponsorship is also needed long term for them.

I personally run a fundraising group (Cheryl’s Paws for a Cause Fundraising Group) but we don’t raise enough each month to help Moonacre Sanctuary clear these debts. I have been trying for a few months now and whilst we funded some wheels for Janeway - the blind and disabled puppy shown in the photograph - we need more help please!
