Pippa is one of life’s quietly courageous individuals, prepared to stand up (and sit down) for what’s right regardless of the cost to herself. After a career dedicated to helping others, she is now facing significant court costs for acting with Insulate Britain in bringing to public attention the dire need for home insulation. Home insulation that would give much needed warmer homes for families up and down the country, as well as significantly cut carbon emissions.
Although Insulate Britain was hugely successful in highlighting the critical need for insulation and speeding government policy (1), it’s activists like Pippa who pay the price by risking physical harm taking non violent direct action and then undergoing the emotionally gruelling ordeal of being taken through the justice system. This kind of activism is not for the faint-hearted.
Pippa has had to face two trials for her part in a high profile block of Dover Port. The first trial resulted in a hung jury and so another trial was called, in which she was judged to be guilty of public nuisance. She has faced a total of 18 days in court; 18 days of being publicly judged and defending her actions.
Pippa is resilient as well as brave and is not looking for sympathy. But she would be immensely grateful for any and all contributions to help her pay her court fines of £3000.
Please support Pippa, who took action for all of us. Thank you.
