Following the devastating loss of our set, we have begun the painful task of rebuilding everything from scratch... and we need your help!
by Stopgap Dance Company in Farnham, England, United Kingdom
Stopgap Dance Company tour productions with exceptional disabled and non-disabled dancers. We are currently touring an evocative dance theatre show called 'The Enormous Room', which is our flagship production - our life blood...
But last week, our van that contained the set and equipment for the whole show was stolen right in the middle of our tour... This highly original show took over two years of dedication and hard work from our creative team including the acclaimed disabled dancer David Toole, Hannah Sampson, Amy Butler, Nadenh Poan, Christian Brinklow, Meritxell Checa, Lucy Bennett, Dougie Evans and Chahine Yavrovan, and the inventive set and bespoke costumes were designed by Curious Space, who just did the Opera exhibition at the V&A. They had done a brilliant job in creating a show that gives breath-taking experiences for our audience.
We began the painful task of rebuilding everything right away, and the affected venues, audiences and our insurers have been nothing less than brilliant. We are also very grateful of the supportive messages we have been getting from our fans and colleagues from across the world...
Although the insurers will help us get back on our feet, there are unfortunately excess and additional costs that we just have to finance ourselves, and the total is currently running at £6,500. We urgently need your help to bring the show back up and running as soon as possible to avoid any further disappointments for our audiences.
Our current aim is to have the show ready for 20th March when we visit Salisbury Arts Centre.
