Purchase four single hander dinghies to suit the larger children and young adults now arriving for RYA sail training
Manor Park is a successful RYA sailing club based at Kings Bromley, Staffordshire serving the Midlands. We used lockdown to improve our clubhouse and now junior sail training numbers have exploded as water activities are in demand. We identified a shortfall in that the larger children we are seeing can't sail solo as our single handers are too cramped, and our three person dinghies are too big.
We need to add four larger single hander dinghies to our training fleet. The boats selected are Hartley H12, made locally costing about £4,100 each. As a legacy to our Queen, we will name them "Platinum 1 to 4" - as a lasting reminder to our future sailors.
For the first time, this will allow all sizes of person to sail solo, and allow parent & child to sail together, solving social distancing concerns of some families. "Have you seen the smile on the face of a junior who has just sailed solo for first time?"
We have already secured funding for Two Dinghies , we have applications submitted towards a Third Dinghy, and now appeal for funds for our Fourth.
