Have you ever wondered what it takes to create a new woodland? The answer is people power.
For 25 years, Moor Trees charity have been on a mission, restoring temperate rainforest and planting native woodlands on Dartmoor. Our commitment is powered by people, who are essential to every step of the tree growing journey. Hundreds of hours of dedicated hands gathering seeds from local woodlands, nurturing them for years before finding the perfect places to plant them on Dartmoor. Together, we've grown and planted thousands of trees, actively responding to the climate and nature crises.
As our 25th anniversary celebrations come to a close, we are focused on planting the future. The next 25 years starts today.
Our target of £25,000 is the essential next step towards a wilder Dartmoor. Every pound raised will help to plant future woodlands. Together we can amplify our impact.
Moor Trees environmental impact is huge. We will have planted 200,000 trees by the end of this tree planting season. These trees form a mosaic of biodiverse nature rich woodlands on Dartmoor, that capture carbon, improving and connecting the habitats around them.
We recognise that whilst we share our environmental impact far and wide, it is the people behind the spades that make Moor Trees so special. Our organisation was founded by volunteers, and today, they gift over 6,000 hours every year to create the woodlands of the future.
It's these dedicated people who are the true lifeblood of Moor Trees, driving significant environmental action. Behind every single tree planted are an army of people - our volunteers, supporters and partners - all sharing the goal of a more nature-rich landscape.

The Power of Trees.
The UK is one of the most nature-depleted countries in the entire world. We have lost around half (50%) of the biodiversity that once defined our landscape. Since 1970, the variety and abundance of our wildlife, from familiar birds and butterflies to vital plants, has dropped by an estimated 19%. This is not a distant problem; it's happening here in our own gardens, countryside and national parks.
Trees matter. They play an essential role in combating the climate and nature crisis. As individuals, we are often disconnected to nature and we can sometimes feel helpless when we hear about how the climate is changing and the impact this is having. Moor Trees charity provides the opportunity to make a tangible impact, through a donation or the gift of time, to help address biodiversity loss and capture carbon, through the creation of native rich woodlands in Dartmoor National Park. The people who gift their time with us, discover more about the benefits of trees in the landscape, learn what makes a healthy ecosystem and help create a different future for everyone.
