Help us to deliver an exciting new project and protect the future of a much loved community cafe & hub.
We are delighted to introduce Planted. An innovative new community project from local environmental charity Vision 21. This not-for profit, volunteer supported initiative brings together a collective of local partners to create a vibrant hub for local people. Planting new ideas, rooted in community, growing a sustainable future together.
Planted will be a welcoming community space located in London Road, Charlton Kings, featuring a plant-based café run by Poco Culina and a volunteer run loose food ‘refillery’. Planted will also become a base for local sustainability activities in Cheltenham and provide a venue for local events, social and creative groups, repairs, swaps and much more!
An exciting new chapter for a much loved community cafe
This will be an exciting new chapter for the much loved community café, currently trading as FRONT. Vision 21 are delighted to be able to build on the existing project established by Su Billington who will be retiring at the end of January.
"After three and a half years of hard work and dedication to build FRONT in to the thriving community asset it is today (having opening in the middle of the Covid pandemic in 2020!) Su will be retiring at the end of January. But it won’t be the end of FRONT Community Hub. Far from it. She has identified Cheltenham’s primary environmental charity Vision21 as the perfect organisation to take the hub forwards and they have jumped at the opportunity." Sam Attard The FRONT
We can’t make this happen without your support so please contact us if you’re interested in volunteering and please make a donation to help us secure the future of this community space. Follow us @PlantedCK on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) or sign up to our newsletter to get all the latest updates about the project and help us shape this community space.
Key partners we have on board so far:
Poco Culina @ Planted
Creative food with a sprinkle of Eastern magic! We’ve partnered with local chef Andy Tibbs to create a sustainable, plant-based menu for our volunteer supported café. Every bite supports both your well-being and the planet. Local delivery by bicycle, using organic & locally sourced ingredients where possible. www.pococulina.co.uk
Loose Food Refillery
Run by passionate volunteers, our loose food ‘refillery’ will continue to offer affordable loose food and cleaning refills. Promoting waste reduction and sustainable living. Bring your containers and contribute to a greener future. We also hope to run some community kitchen days where we can share locally grown produce, offer cooking demos and affordable meals.
Arts & Creativity
Planted will also be supporting local creativity, mending, making, and repairing. Our craft room upstairs provides the perfect space for creative endeavours and can also be hired by local groups. We also hope to organise craft fairs and sell work by local artists and locally crafted products.
CKPC & CK Futures
The project has been supported by a grant from Charlton Kings Parish Council. Planted will be a base for local community and sustainability events. This versatile venue (including a meeting room, craft room, kitchen and café) will be available for hire by local community groups. facebook.com/CKFutures
