Here at PlainTasty we are looking for help in raising £10,000 in order to redesign our brand image, labelling and packaging.
How it all started /who are we?
It all began with boss-man Tom Layton. Due to his family’s Scandinavian roots, he was always back and forth to Denmark throughout his childhood, where he fully embraced their food culture because so much of it was healthy, tasty and satisfying. In time he became interested in starting his own company making a healthy snack food and instantly knew that he wanted to use rye sour dough - a Danish favourite. Through many stages of experimentation, he eventually emerged from the food lab with our flagship product, the Rysp, a rye sourdough crisp with no wheat, yeast or dairy, which is also low in sugar, high in natural sumptuous flavours and totally vegan. Eureka!
With seed money from friend Jonathan Halstead on the financial side, PlainTasty has set out to create clean, simple and extremely tasty food from easily identifiable ingredients. PlainTasty’s mission is to create, from sustainably sourced, simple, natural ingredients, delicious tasting products that are also good for your body as well as the environment.

So what is a Rysp?
A Rysp is a rye sour dough baked crisp that is flavoured only with natural herbs and spices. What makes our Rsyp unique and different to other crisps in the market is our commitment to 100% rye – we do not cut with higher gluten grains for ease of production (you’re welcome).
The Rysp is:
The Rysp is great to eat on it's own with a drink, or enjoyed with dips or used as a cracker with toppings. They come in 3 fab flavours: Garlic and Rosemary, Dulse and Black Sesame and Caraway and Black Pepper.

What have we done so far?
Well, we’ve won 2 Great Taste Awards from the Guild of Fine Foods (not too shabby), where the judges said they loved “the thin texture and crispness”, “full on caraway flavour” and “rye sour dough hit” of our Rysp. As our sales have increased steadily in our first year, our production facilities have grown to match; starting in Tom’s kitchen and working our way up to our beautiful customised bakery in Bootle, Merseyside.
Now, Rysp can be found all across the country! From Liverpool, to London, and Devon to Dornoch - our tasty, tasty snacks are filling peoples’ bellies with healthy natural goodness.

What will we use the money for?
Right… down to the nitty gritty. After a 18 months in retail, finding our footing and making a name for ourselves, we’ve decided to shake things up a bit by rebranding and repackaging our Rysp. We plan on making the bags for our snacks more ‘shelf-friendly’ – so that they stand up better, keep longer and reflect our ethos and values in the the packaging. We feel as lovely as our current look is, it doesn’t reflect our aspirations for the product, and a new, more upmarket style would suit us better.
£10,000 in pledges will enable us to look more professional and tap new markets.
