Aim: We’re raising £4,500 to fix our broken pizza oven so our youth-run pizza project can keep serving the community.

We’re a group of young people who run a community pizza project in Blaenau Ffestiniog. Inspired by our passion for food and entrepreneurship, we started using a commercial-grade Gozney oven to serve freshly made pizzas at community events and pop-ups. With guidance from local chefs and volunteers, it’s become more than just pizza – it’s been about skills, teamwork, and confidence.

Earlier this year, our oven's Draco gas burner – the part that heats the oven up to cooking temperature – broke down. We tried switching to wood-only, but it takes hours to get to temperature and isn't practical for community events.

We’ve:

  • Spoken to Gozney (warranty sadly expired in Feb 2025)

  • Been in touch with Avanzini, who make the Draco unit we need, and their UK reps Ilk Pizza Pros, who’ve been super helpful

  • Had a commercial gas engineer assess it

The final recommendation is to replace the burner unit – which costs £3,660.40 – plus £300–£450 for installation by a commercial gas engineer.

Ilk Pizza – and no other UK suppliers – have the unit in stock, as it is made to order. The lead time is 1–2 weeks, as it will be manufactured and imported from Italy.

However, the Italian factories are due to shut down soon for their summer holidays, and in order to get the part in time, we need to place the order by the end of this week!

They have agreed that we can pay a 50% deposit to get the process started.
