WHO AM I?
I’m KellyAnn Schiavo, founder of Pivotal Women. Pivotal Women is a community of women ready to break trauma barriers, take action and step boldly out of fear and into freedom.
HOW DID PIVOTAL WOMEN COME ABOUT?
I had a brilliant career in Banking, at Goldman Sachs, for 15 years before deciding go solo. It was great yet also had it's fair share of wonky moments and feelings of inadequacy. When my children came along my outlook on work and womanhood changed and I lost touch with my own identity. Instead of brain drain the mental blocks started to form and my thinking became limited instead of limitless.
There’s nothing like a shock to shake you out of your comfort zone and this happened almost 3 years ago when my son drowned in a swimming pool in Italy. It was a tragedy that no mother should face and after some time in hospital, he fully recovered and thank God he was OK. My daughter, however, suffered anxiety and 18 months on a CAMHS waiting list didn’t help.
THE PIVOTAL MOMENT
I studied and attended everything I could on child mental health, family relationships and women’s emotional intelligence. The more I investigated what was available to women and families, the more I found that with funding cuts and lack of education on existing services, women were being isolated, leading to depression, addiction and worse. In the UK, 1 in 3 children in a classroom have a diagnosable mental health issue and children as young as five are self harming and worse because of the environments in which they live. Pivotal Women is on a pay-it-forward mission to change those environments by equipping, educating and empowering women to smash ceilings and make the impact in their world that they dream of, impacting their immediate communities, instigating generational change that formulates a fairer way of living for all.
WHAT IS A PIVOTAL WOMAN?
A Pivotal Woman is every woman who's ready to break cycles of trauma, ignite her passion, activate her potential & impact her world for generations to come. She wants more. She wants and deserves better.
Just like the lotus flower in our logo, the pivotal woman rises up after a period of being deep rooted in darkness and from an internal transformation, she blossoms in full sunlight, marking her new beginning. As a leader of herself, her family and her community, her roots are deep and her presence strong.
She is a Pivotal Woman.
WHAT IS THE OBJECTIVE?
No woman, mother (or not), married, single, young or old, should suffer at the hands of mental health issues, such as; abuse, modern slavery, low self-worth, anxiety or addiction.
Linking the five elements of the lotus, our training's are based on five specific elements of womanhood. The objective is to hold:
- Online workshops and retreats
- Build an online course catalogue of essential tools for educating and empowering (with language options and BSL - this depends on the amount raised but as this was lowered considerably due to Coronovirus, we will endeavour to do this at a later date)
- Start a Pivotal Women podcast that aims to interview other Pivotal Women to showcase their transformations and successes. It will also hold space for interviews with professionals such as trauma psychologists and therapists
POST COVID19:
- Work with community leaders to get to the grass roots of issues, creating change at a local level
- Offer talks to Teens on topics such healthy relationships, the journey to womanhood and knowing your worth
- Launch a series of in-person seminars extended to women in the family and how to lead by example
- A series of Women Who Lead for women who want to 'next level' their impact in their lives
SOCIAL
We offer a free Facebook community as a safe haven for all women to access free education and tools, to formulate friendships and create support networks.
Our aim is to have our courses available online, in the next 6 months, in different languages as well as in British Sign Language. It is our goal to leave no woman behind.

CREATING A COMMUNITY
We have already secured ownership of the hashtag #iamapivotalwoman and this will be used to track followers, engagement, locations of reach and also as a social sharing tool for praising the women's wins on our platforms.
AND BEYOND...
For women who wish to pursue a deeper journey, accessing more experts and monthly video learning modules to complete at their own pace, there will be a paid community club. The Upper Room, in therapeutic terms, 'holds space' for women to develop deeper, personally and professionally. It aims to bring like-minded women together who will take part in monthly masterclasses and be given the opportunity to pay-it-forward by buddying a woman through her pivotal transformation.
THE VISION FOR THE PROJECT
We want the vibe to be fun yet inspirational, educational and mind blowingly liberating!
We want the space to be strongly female with fresh flowers, great coffee and lots of photo opportunities for savouring the memories created through our community. We want women to experience pivotal moments to the point where people are asking what on earth happened to them!
POST CORONOVIRUS we would love to revert to our original plan of holding a live event in London, packed with speakers, a market hall and a story stage.
The vision also includes intermittent online training and masterclasses where women globally can experience the Pivotal Women community and also join the The Upper Room.
The mission is to empower women to step out fear, ignite passion, activate potential & impact the world for generations to come. As a social enterprise, the opportunity for Pivotal Women to instigate change is massive and in today’s society, we believe, it is much needed!
