Pitch Perfect - The Nets4Royd Project

Aim: We aim to raise £30,000 to build a new practice facility to help all our players train safely, whatever the weather. Every donation helps.

Who are we?

We’re Mytholmroyd Cricket Club – a thriving community club at the heart of the Calder Valley. We’re home to two senior men’s teams, a growing women’s section with two teams -  Royd Rebelles - and a brilliant group of junior players known as the Royd Rebels.

We’re passionate about cricket, community, and creating a safe, welcoming space where people of all ages and abilities can enjoy the game.

Why are we crowdfunding?

We’re raising £30,000 to build a new two-lane, all-weather training net facility at the MCG (Mytholmroyd Cricket Ground!) – a much-needed upgrade to support our expanding club.

Our current practice facilities are situated solely on the pitch and subject to availability depending on match schedules and, of course, the weather. With increasing numbers of players, particularly women and juniors, we urgently need a dedicated space where our members can safely train, improve and enjoy cricket year-round.  We already have planning permission to create this facility, but we urgently need the funding to make a start.

We believe this project meets key funding priorities:

• It supports youth development and active lifestyles.
• It increases opportunities for women and girls in sport.
• It creates a lasting asset for the wider community.

How we’ll spend the money raised

Every penny will go directly toward the construction and installation of a two-lane artificial surface net facility.

Any additional funds raised will be invested into coaching, equipment, and inclusive community sessions.

Community impact

This facility won’t just benefit our club – it will be a true asset for our local community.

It will:

• Provide a safe, structured environment for young people to play sport and develop confidence.
• Support women and girls looking to get into cricket in a supportive and fun setting.
• Enable us to offer coaching, school partnerships and sessions for the wider community.
• Help us build a lasting legacy for grassroots sport in Mytholmroyd.
